Jessica Ann Simpson (born July 10, 1980) is an American singer, actress, television personality and fashion designer whose rise to fame began in 1999. Since that time, Simpson has achieved many recording milestones, starred in several television shows, movies, and commercials, launched a line of hair and beauty products, and designed fragrances, shoes, and handbags for women. She has devoted time to philanthropic efforts including Operation Smile and a USO-hosted tour for troops stationed overseas.

Early life

Jessica Ann Simpsonwas born in Abilene, Texas, as the daughter of Tina Ann (née Drew), ahomemaker, and Joe Truett Simpson, a minister and psychologist. She has ayounger sister Ashlee, who is also a singer. As a child, Simpson begansinging at her local Baptist church. At age twelve, she unsuccessfullyauditioned for The Mickey Mouse Club.While attending J.J. Pearce HighSchool, she signed to Proclaim Records, a minor Gospel music recordlabel.

She recorded an album, Jessica, but Proclaim went bankrupt and the album was never officially released except for a small pressing funded by her grandmother. This small pressing gained her minor attention and she gave concerts with other acts such as Kirk Franklin, God's Property, and CeCe Winans. Simpson left high school at age sixteen (she later earned her GED), and after Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola heard Jessica, she was signed to the label.

Marriage to Nick Lachey

Shebegan dating 98 Degrees group member Nick Lachey in 1999. After datingfor two years, the couple cooled their relationship. After the September11 attacks, the couple reconciled. Simpson stated, "After 9/11, I knewthat I never ever wanted to be away from Nick ever for the rest of mylife." On October 26, 2002, Simpson married Nick Lachey.

She famously announced she had remained a virgin until her marriage.InNovember 2005, after months of tabloid speculation, Simpson and Lacheyannounced they were separating. Simpson filed for divorce on December16, 2005, citing "irreconcilable differences."The couple's divorce waspublicized worldwide and was reportedly finalized on June 30, 2006.

Simpson told Jane magazine in October 2006 that she knew her marriage to Lachey was over when he refused to join her on a charity trip to Africa, even though it was on their third wedding anniversary.

Kesha Rose Sebert (born March 1, 1987) is an American pop singer-songwriter and rapper. In 2005, at 18, Kesha was signed to Dr. Luke's record label, Kemosabe Entertainment, and publishing company. Although an active musician since then, singing background vocals and writing songs for other artists, her breakthrough only came in early 2009 after appearing on Flo Rida's number one single, "Right Round." Kesha's debut single "Tik Tok", released in late 2009, reached number one in 11 countries. Her debut album, Animal, was released in January 2010 and debuted at number one in the U.S., Canada and Greece. By September, Kesha had sold two million albums worldwide and released three more top ten singles from Animal. The album was re-released with a companion extended play, Cannibal, in November, preceded by the chart-topping lead single "We R Who We R".

Her mother, Pebe Sebert, is a singer-songwriter who co-wrote the 1978 single "Old Flames Can't Hold a Candle to You" with Hugh Moffatt for Joe Sun. Pebe, a single mother, struggled financially while supporting herself, Kesha and her older brother, Lagan, at the time. Kesha's debut single, "Tik Tok", was a commercial success, topping the charts in eleven countries; performing best in the US where it set the weekly record for the most digital downloads of a female artist and became the second best-selling single in a week, after "Right Round", by shifting 610,000 copies.RCA had noticed her strong following on social media when negotiating her contract and thus relied on viral marketing to build a following for her single, offering it for free a month before releasing it for digital download. "Tik Tok" was released for digital download in August 2009 and reached number one on iTunes in New Zealand without radio airplay. Radio stations soon began expressing interest in the song, but RCA/Jive Label Group chairman/CEO Barry Weiss decided to delay its shipping to radio by a month, to October, to let the song continue to build viral support digitally and good word of mouth.
